Unlike the cold and wimpy LED dome lamps you may have seen at the boating stores, this lamp has a 20W equivalent output, and a nice soft-white color. It not only fits the traditional decor, but also puts out warm colored light, similar to an incandescent.
This fixture is made of brass, which is clear-lacquered to prevent tarnishing and scratching. It has a wide angle impact-resistant diffuser lens, which directs the 23-LED 120° emitters for nice even coverage in your cabin or salon. It is meant for overhead surface mounting and comes pre-wired with a bezel-mounted black on-off rocker switch.
Like all Marinebeam products, this contains our Integral Constant-Current chip-set for maximum light output, and 12V/24V capability. If you have tried the cheap boating store LED lamps and were disappointed, or if you are just looking for a great LED lamp that won't break the bank, look no further.
NOTE: The red/white option uses a momentary switching method. For further explanation click here or a 3-way toggle model can be found here.

Just installed
My old configuration had dome lights that looked like these but it seemed no two used the same bulb. So I ordered 6 of these to replace nearly all of the old. Installation is relatively simple with the only problem being that the existing wiring is heavier gage than the new lights. I solved this by stripping a bit more wire from the light fixture and doubling it over. Overall, I'd say maybe 5 min per light to install. The switching mode between red and white took a little getting used to. When the light is first turned on it defaults to red. To get white one must then turn it off and then back on. Strange I thought until I began to see the advantage. If I get up in the night or go below for coffee the first light I get is red, so as not to blast my night vision. If I want , I have to make a conscious decision. I like it. Also, although I knew these lights would draw less power, I forgot that they give off no heat. Kind of important in the Florida summer. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is that I expected to get a new set of screws to mount the fixture. This meant an extra trip to the hardware store to look for tiny stainless screws. Overall, I am quite happy with the lights and would recommend them.

Excellent dome light at a reasonable price!
I bought two dome lights for my trawler's cockpit. They arrived within a couple of days, same size as my old domes, at a reasonable price. How do you beat that ??
