Prop 65

CALIFORNIA PROPOSITION 65

The California Safe Drinking Water and Toxic Enforcement Act of 1986, commonly referred to as “Proposition 65” or “Prop 65”, is a right-to-know law that is unique to the State of California. The goal of Prop 65 is to ensure that individuals in the State of California are informed about possible exposure to chemicals “known to the State of California to cause cancer and/or reproductive toxicity.” Under the law, the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (“OEHHA”) is tasked with maintaining a list of chemicals and updating the list at least annually. To date, there are over 900 chemicals listed by OEHHA, which list can be found at https://oehha.ca.gov/proposition-65/proposition-65-list.

Why do we place a Proposition 65 warning on our products?

The Prop 65 warning signifies one of two things:

  1. Marinebeam has evaluated the product and determined that the product is above the “no significant risk level”

 OR

  1. Marinebeam has not evaluated the exposure level of the product, and the warning is provided based on the knowledge about the presence of a listed chemical.

Since almost all electronic products and components contain 1 or more of the chemicals listed under Proposition 65, we have added this warning on our website and packaging to comply with California law.  Like most businesses doing business in California, we have chosen to place the following Proposition 65 warning on our products:

WARNING: This product can expose you to chemicals including nickel or lead, which are known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm.  For more information go to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov.
