This drop-in back pin G4 replacement features two modes from the same bulb! It can function as either a Red bulb, for preserving night vision, or with a quick flick of your existing switch, it can morph into a high-output super-bright Warm White bulb. There is no need for 3-way switches, or modifying wiring, it just drops in.
When initially switched on, its output comes from the three center RED LEDs. This provides a nice soft red output that is more than enough to light to see really well down below at night. This red start-up mode is really handy to prevent the loss of night vision, and avoids disturbing others down below. It is your choice whether you want Red or Warm White, and the control is all done using your existing switches. Imagine being able to convert any light in your boat to a red output with just a quick flick of the switch.
No need for big double bulb fixtures and 3-way switches. This is all accomplished using a digital latching technique within the bulb's micro-processor electronics. The bulb senses each toggle of the switch and latches into the Warm White mode if the switch is toggled off-on within 3 seconds. To revert to Red mode is a simple off and back on with a 3 second delay.

I purchased three different types of LED back pin G4 lights - all white; 3-level dimmers; white and blue as part of our whole boat lighting refit. These are excellent! We could not be happier with the light outputs, the lower power consumption and reduced heat results. I decided to purchase and install these after buying a new masthead LED solution from Marinebeam earlier this year. That is awesome modern solution too!
These have been a fantastic upgrade for night sailing. A perfect solution on older boats that only have a few light fixtures in the cabin.
I love these lights! I installed eight, replacing all the interior ceiling bulbs. The ability to switch between red and white makes them great for night sailing.
Don't let the 6 LEDs of white light dissuade you, these bulbs throw the perfect amount of light for use as reading/cabin lights. The red mode also throws plenty of lumens. I was worried they wouldn't be bright enough, case closed, they're great-- couldn't be happier. I haven't tried a side-by-side comparison with the old tungsten, but they are nearly identical.
