Fantastic option for interior lighting
I installed six of these strip lights in my live-aboard sailboat several months ago. They were installed to replace the old incandescent fixtures that were installed above the settee and in the v-birth in the boat during manufacture. What an improvement! Worth every penny! The led output is a nice color with just the right amount of yellow, but not too much. (about the same color illumination as opening a window) My wife and I were especially surprised how much we love the lowest output setting, which feels like about two or three candles per fixture, it makes for a perfect ambiance while watching a movie late at night. The middle setting is a nice amount of light for all around use, and the highest setting is stunningly bright and great for getting work done or really lighting up the cabin. The touch switch is fairly sensitive only occasionally requiring a second touch to activate. The wide angle of the light spread is the best I have ever seen in an led fixture making for a lot of really usable light. The glare is very low for the amount of light output because it uses many led's that are spread out over the length of the fixture instead of a single point like some other light fixtures I have tried. The advertised power draw is accurate and very low, allowing guilt free usage if drawing from limited power from a battery bank. The power wires are small but easily wired into the larger existing boat wiring using a step down crimp butt connector. I used ANCOR Step Down Heat Shrink Butt Connectors AWG 22-18 TO 16-14 They worked great but lesser quality crimp connectors or soldering would also get the job done. I would not advise trying to us one light switch to turn multiple light fixtures on and off because if power is shut off to the fixtures and then turned back on via a master switch or breaker, the lights will have switched back to the default off position, (not the last position they were on), so trying to run several from one master switch is not really the best method because you have to switch each one individually back on to the setting desired. They still work in this arrangement but you have to turn each one back on individually. Marinebeam however does have other strip lighting solutions that do work well with many fixtures controlled from one switch, so chose one of them instead.
